MUST (Mobile Unit for Sensing Traffic) featured in University of Washington spotlight

AIWaysion is proud to spotlight the real-world impact of the Mobile Unit for Sensing Traffic (MUST), an AI-powered smart traffic hub developed by the UW StarLab. Recently featured in University of Washington news, this innovative technology integrates sensing and V2X capabilities into a single edge computing unit—advancing safer, smarter transportation systems.

With deployments across 20+ cities and counties, MUST supports critical applications such as pedestrian and vehicle detection, near-miss data collection, roadway condition monitoring, and curbside management. Since 2022, AIWaysion has helped bring this research into practice, driving meaningful improvements in road safety for both urban and rural communities.

This collaborative work with Yakama Nation has also earned national recognition, including the 2023 Innovative Project Award and Best All-Round Award from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Build a Better Mousetrap Program.
