AIWaysion Selected for USDOT SBIR Phase I Award to Develop TrafficPro.AI

We’re excited to share that AIWaysion has been selected as a FY26 U.S. Department of Transportation SBIR Phase I awardee to develop TrafficPro.AI — a Traffic Intelligence Platform for Proactive Traffic Management with Distributed Cloud-Edge AI and V2X. (https://lnkd.in/gmVGCiQd)
TrafficPro.AI is being developed to help transportation agencies move from reacting to congestion after it forms toward predicting emerging congestion, understanding how impacts may propagate across corridors, and proactively coordinating traffic-management strategies through distributed edge intelligence, regional cloud coordination, and hybrid V2X communications.
Congratulations to our project team, led by Brian Brooke, MBA, MPP as Principal Investigator, and to our subcontracting partners AV and The Johns Hopkins University. Together, the team brings expertise spanning Edge hashtag#AI, traffic operations and hashtag#TSMO, hashtag#V2X communications, predictive traffic intelligence, and advanced AI modeling. Dr. Xiaoliang (George) Zhao, Dr. Nikola Mitrovic, Dr. Mohammad Asadul Hoque, PhD, SMIEEE, Dr. Hao (Frank) Yang, Dr. Hung-Min Hsu, Luyang Gong, Matthew G. Medina, Jiacheng (Ciel) Sun, Kartik Kumar, Dr. Wei Sun.
We’re also excited about what comes next. Our goal is for TrafficPro.AI to become another product in AIWaysion’s growing portfolio of practical transportation technologies that agencies can use to improve traffic management, mobility, safety, and operational efficiency. Phase I will establish the technical foundation for future real-world deployment and commercialization.
As we begin development, we welcome transportation agencies interested in being part of the journey — whether by providing operational guidance, sharing use cases and needs, expressing interest in the technology, participating in testing or trials, or exploring future field deployments. We want TrafficPro.AI to be shaped by real-world agency needs and designed to work with existing transportation infrastructure and operations.
Thank you to the U.S. DOT and U.S. DOT Volpe Center for supporting small-business innovation. We’re excited to get started!
